Blissing Out in Bali: Pondok Wahyu Villa - Ubud

Blissing Out in Bali: Pondok Wahyu Villa - Ubud

Indonesia ... by accident?

I was hoping I’d make it there at some point during my time living in Southeast Asia. In fact, Bali had been in the back of my mind as the place I’d possibly move to after 6 months in Thailand, or whenever Thai immigration stopped letting me re-enter their country when my visas would expire.

Did I know anything about Bali? Other than what I’d seen half-paying attention to Eat, Pray, Love...no. I just knew it was beautiful. I knew it was a life-changing destination for some. I somehow knew experiencing this little stand-out Indonesian island would just feel good for the soul.

I’m All Over The Place - 2015 Life & Travels Roundup

This year has been a sensational whirlwind. I’m always astonished at how quickly the present moments and months disappear into mere memories. I’ve bounced around from here to there, hopping around from one city to the next, attempting to get my life along the way (resulting in the birth of new goal after new goal), often times moving too fast to even keep up with myself. Hence, why my beloved blog became increasingly vacant of new updates as the year shot by like a speeding bullet.

“I’m all over the place, I can’t sit in one place, I’m not ashamed at all.”

Thailand Pt 1: The First Trek

Thailand Pt 1: The First Trek

This is a rather Throwback Thursday-esque series, but my time in Thailand at the top of 2013  left such an impression on my heart that I couldn’t go without finding a place for it here on PBU. I debated on whether or not I should even write about a trip that happened over two years ago (sheesh does time fly), however, I decided to go for it. Thailand is so special a place that I’m setting out to return very soon. 2015 soon.

My two week trip through mainland Thailand’s three most popular cities and one of its small islands was everything I could wish for -- enriching, adventurous, exciting, challenging… different. I experienced a number of firsts... Ones that stick around and feel fresh in your mind far after you’ve flown away.

Why Thailand?

A Summer in Salzburg, Austria with Candace Dane

A Summer in Salzburg, Austria with Candace Dane

Imagine a summer spent leading global change, interning in a European palace set at lake's edge,

a shimmery beaut' that prominently reflects the surrounding snow-capped Alps mountain range in its calm ripples. Imagine bouncing between borders, jetting off to a new country nearly every other weekend, leaving your mark in London, Venice, Budapest. Can you picture yourself discussing worldwide social solutions, living with people from all over the globe, breaking barriers between your differences, and challenging preconceived notions?

If you're not sold already, you will be after reading this. Recent University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill graduate Candace Dane spent last summer living out the above, as a participant of the Salzburg Global Seminar in Austria.

How to Tour Oahu for Under $10

How to Tour Oahu for Under $10

This entire day was the highlight of my first-time Hawaii experience. I found out about an app called the GyPSy Guide Oahu (notice the capitalized GPS) on one of my favorite travel planning sites (either TripAdvisor or Trippy) and downloaded it a little while prior to my trip. Known as the “Driving app that’s like having a tour guide in your car,” it really delivered on its claim, even exceeding my expectations.
